Notification and alert preferences
Control which notifications you receive, how you receive them, and when — so you stay informed without being overwhelmed.
Gradeworks sends notifications for events that need your attention — dispatch changes, sign-off reminders, bid status updates, and more. Not every notification matters to every person. Preferences let you choose what you see and how you see it.
Notification channels
- In-app — appears in the notification bell in the top bar. Always available, can't be turned off.
- Email — sent to your account email address. Can be configured per notification type.
- Mobile (field app) — notifications for field workers. Controlled in the field app settings.
Configuring your preferences
- Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Profile
- Navigate to the Notifications tab
- For each notification type, toggle Email on or off
- In-app notifications are always enabled — they serve as your activity feed
Notification types
- Dispatch updates — when your crew's assignments change or a new dispatch is sent
- Sign-off reminders — end-of-day reminder to sign off on time entries
- Bid status changes — when a bid you created or are watching changes status
- Time entry flags — when a time entry needs review (missing clock-out, unusual duration)
- System alerts — scheduled maintenance, feature updates, account changes
Admins can also configure company-wide notification defaults in Settings > Company. These defaults apply to new users and can be overridden by individual preferences.
Quiet hours
Mobile notifications respect quiet hours configured in the field app. During quiet hours (default 9 PM to 5 AM), no mobile alerts are sent. In-app notifications still accumulate and are visible when the user next opens the app. Email notifications have no quiet hours — they arrive anytime but can be managed with email filters.
