Keyboard shortcuts

Complete guide to keyboard shortcuts in Gradeworks — navigate faster, take actions without the mouse, and work like a power user.

Keyboard shortcuts make the difference between clicking through menus and flying through your workflow. Gradeworks supports shortcuts across all major views. You don't need to memorize them all — start with the five you'd use most and add more as they become natural.

Global shortcuts

  • Cmd/Ctrl + / — open the keyboard shortcuts reference panel
  • Cmd/Ctrl + N — create new (context-aware: new bid in Estimating, new block in Scheduling)
  • Escape — close any modal, dropdown, or panel
  • ? — show keyboard shortcuts overlay (same as Cmd/Ctrl + /)

Estimating shortcuts

  • Tab / Shift+Tab — move between line item fields (description → quantity → unit → cost)
  • Enter — confirm the current line item and move to the next
  • Cmd/Ctrl + D — duplicate the selected line item
  • Cmd/Ctrl + Delete — delete the selected line item
  • Cmd/Ctrl + P — preview the bid proposal

Scheduling shortcuts

  • Arrow keys — navigate between blocks on the timeline
  • Enter — open the selected block's properties
  • D — set duration (type a number after pressing D)
  • Cmd/Ctrl + Drag — duplicate a block by dragging while holding Cmd/Ctrl
  • Space — toggle between day, week, and month zoom levels

Dispatch board shortcuts

  • Left/Right arrows — move between days on the dispatch board
  • T — jump to today
  • Shift + Click — multi-select blocks for batch operations
  • R — mark selected block(s) as dispatched
Pro tip
Press Cmd/Ctrl + / anywhere in Gradeworks to see a contextual shortcuts panel. It shows the shortcuts available on your current page, so you always know what's available without memorizing the full list.
