Setting up your company

Configure your company profile, yard location, and crew structure to get the most out of Gradeworks from day one.

After creating your account, the first step is configuring your company settings. This determines how bids calculate travel costs, how crews are organized, and how your team accesses the platform.

Company profile

Navigate to Settings > Company. Set your company name, logo (appears on bid proposals), and contact information.

Yard location

Your yard location is the home base for all drive time calculations. When you enter a site address on a bid, Gradeworks calculates travel time from your yard to the job site. Set this in Settings > Company > Scheduling.

Pro tip
Your yard location also powers vendor proximity ranking. When you're selecting material suppliers, Gradeworks sorts vendors by distance from the job site using your yard as a reference point.

Crew setup

Navigate to Settings > Crews to define your crew templates. Each crew has a type (dirt, asphalt, equipment, etc.), assigned members with hourly rates, and default equipment. Crews appear as assignment options on the dispatch board.

  1. Go to Settings > Crews
  2. Click Add Crew and enter a name and type
  3. Add members with their hourly rates
  4. Assign default equipment to the crew
  5. Save — the crew is now available for dispatch assignments
